Lerchpeuntgut
Many guests appreciate that at Lerchpeuntgut they can set off without a car. Just a few steps from your chalet you will find dog-friendly paths, forest trails and panoramic routes.
Recommended walks starting right at Lerchpeuntgut
- St. Andrä circuit – ideal for the morning round (approx. 30–40 minutes)
Easy walk across meadows and small field paths. Hardly any climbing, very quiet, perfect for a relaxed start to the day. - Mur valley panorama trail (flexible 1–3 hours)
Head straight into the Mur valley and stroll along the river. Your dog can reach the water at many points to cool off. - Path to the “Lungau cultural landscape” (approx. 1 hour)
Soft forest paths, shady and pleasant – ideal for dogs, especially on warm summer days.

The Lungau is one of Austria’s most water-rich regions. Perfect for four-legged friends who love a splash.
The loveliest places to cool off
Lungau BadeINSEL in Tamsweg (10 min) – not a classic bathing day out with a dog, but lovely walking paths all around and many spots to get into the Mur.
Prebersee (approx. 20–25 min) – one of the region’s best-known lakes, beautifully situated. Dogs may enter the water at the edge and the circular path is a dream.
Leisnitz waterfall in St. Margarethen – not for swimming, but with many stream spots for refreshment.
Mühlbach / side valleys – small natural streams, perfect for dogs.

Wide track, good footing, many places to rest. The view into the valley is always worth it. - Riedingtal nature park (approx. 25–30 min drive)
An absolute highlight – numerous lakes, varied hiking routes, watering spots for dogs and plenty of open space.

Mariapfarr Sonnenweg – easily walkable all year round, with many lovely photo spots.
St. Leonhard & Moosham – historic villages with wide open areas for walks.
Mur cycle path (for walks) – flat and perfect for longer, leisurely dog walks.
Practical information for your dog in the Lungau
Alpine altitude – good for sensitive dogs: The dry, sunny climate of the Lungau is considered particularly agreeable.
Grazing areas & lead requirements: In some alpine pasture areas you will encounter grazing cattle. Dogs must be kept on a lead there – but the paths are well signposted.
Plenty of shady forest sections: Perfect for summer holidays with a dog.
