Moosham Castle
Lerchpeuntgut with a difference: clouds and a little rain. Somehow that is fine too. Back to bed? Into the cosy beds, onto the comfortable sofa? A rest day with a good book. That has its charms. Especially within your own four walls.
Or an outing after all? Visit a castle, a museum. We decide on both. Because Moosham Castle is not far away in Unternberg, just 8 km from Lerchpeuntgut. After a wonderfully lazy morning we set off. The 12th-century castle sits imperiously on its lofty perch, gazing down into the Mur valley. Moosham Castle, now privately owned, can only be visited on a guided tour. But it is absolutely worth it. A journey into the Middle Ages, full of expertise and knowledge. The torture chamber is not left out either – goosebumps included ;-)! And as an intriguing extra, you learn amusing details from more recent history: Moosham Castle has served as the backdrop for numerous films, including “Beauty and the Beast”, “Sleeping Beauty”, “Rapunzel”, “The Fearless Vampire Killers” (Tom Turbo), “A Summer with the Castle Ghosts”, “Götz von Berlichingen” and many more. It was a wonderful day. And lo and behold: in the evening the dear sun is shining again. Not for nothing is the Lungau Austria’s sunniest region.

Cosy at home at Lerchpeuntgut
After an outing, it is wonderfully cosy back home in your chalet at Lerchpeuntgut. Snuggle up on the sofa, enjoy the view, perhaps a visit to the sauna. And then a relaxed dinner. That is quality time at Lerchpeuntgut.
